Police Descend on Soho Rooms During Popular Saturday Night Event
A man in his 20s remains in hospital after sustaining serious injuries following an altercation at Soho Rooms in Newcastle city centre on Saturday night.

Northumbria Police have confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident on Mosley Street.

A second man was also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent but has since been released with no further action.

The incident led to a significant police presence outside the popular Newcastle nightclub during one of its busiest weekly events, with customers temporarily asked to leave the venue while emergency services attended the scene.

Emergency Services Called To City Centre Incident.

Police were called to Soho Rooms shortly before 11pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a disturbance.

According to Northumbria Police, it was reported that a man in his 20s had suffered serious injuries following an altercation inside a premises on Mosley Street.

Emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was transported to hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just before 11pm on Saturday (May 30), we received a report of a disturbance in Newcastle city centre.

"It was reported that a man - aged in his 20s - had sustained serious injuries following an altercation at a premises on Mosley Street.

"Emergency services attended and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains."

Arrest Made As Investigation Continues.

Officers have confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The man remains under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police also arrested a second man on suspicion of wounding with intent. However, officers have since confirmed that he has been released with no further action.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.

Ambulance Service Responded To Scene.

The North East Ambulance Service has also confirmed its involvement in the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident at a premises on Mosley Street, Newcastle shortly before 11pm on 30 May.

"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and one patient was taken to hospital."

Soho Rooms Reopened Later That Night.

Despite the disruption caused by the police investigation, Soho Rooms was able to reopen later in the night.

The venue resumed trading at approximately 12.20am on Sunday morning after emergency services completed their initial response and enquiries at the scene.

The incident occurred during Soho Saturdays, one of the nightclub's busiest weekly events. The venue had been advertising a full night of entertainment across multiple floors featuring chart music, house, dance, RnB and throwback tracks.

Located at 25-27 Mosley Street, Soho Rooms is one of Newcastle city centre's best-known nightlife venues and regularly attracts students, visitors and local residents.

Appeal For Witnesses.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the assault and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
